Novel features of the helical volumetric neutron source FFHR-b2

The compact helical fusion reactor FFHR-b2 is a multipurpose HElical Volumetric Neutron Source (HEVNS) available as the component test facility to divertor and blanket systems. In latest design, three new technologies of HTS (High-Temperature Superconducting) conductor, ceramic pebble divertor, cartridge-type are adopted. Tin-based functional liquid metals (FLMs) including lithium considered working fluid for blanket. FLMs have multi functions low vapor pressure, density, melting point, corrosiveness, high tritium breeding ratio, so on. target construction cost has been set 200 billion JPY. main demonstrate gain larger than one. To achieve this in relatively small device, tangential Neutral Beam Injection (NBI) heating with moderate energy 80 keV adopted FFHR-b2. beam-plasma 5 MW NBI can produce power that absorbed 3 MW.
